Hello Loves,
Valentines’ Day 2024 sure was a bit extra sweet for us this year. I hope your season of love was filled with so much love, snuggles, and xoxo’s!! Whether you were able to celebrate on Wednesday or Thursday there is no shame in celebrating on whatever day you and your partner can be together. Wednesday was such a busy day with work for us and Neil’s first day away from home, so I was shocked and felt so cherished to walk in and find flowers and a few gifts waiting for me. Ladies, we truly need to appreciate our men who go above and beyond to make us feel loved! As Neil is only a few days away from 5 months, his early photo session was a bit sweet, too if I say so myself.
With that being said, my hubby and I both decided to stay in and work in our kitchen together on Thursday. Typically, in years past, my husband has always booked a reservation somewhere nice. It is always enjoyable to get dressed up and go out, but lately we have treasured the memories we are making at home during this season of our lives.
We love breakfast food as it always tastes so good and an easy go to option that can be served for lunch or even dinner. I was inspired to create a Belgian waffle board with a couple fruits, chips, granola, and pecans. I have found my family enjoys the Krusteaz Belgian mix just as much as if I were to make the waffles from scratch. The way you doctor up your waffle is what sets the taste. There are so many options when it comes to such a solid base that I feel you could make a comparison to that of cornbread as I have built many dinners off a cornbread base. We typically go for the sweet side but you could totally load up your waffle with bacon, sour cream, cheddar cheese, green onions, etc… to tap into that savory side. Be creative in the kitchen as that’s not only fun for you but for your family as well.
Our favorite pizza is from Chicago at Lou Malnati’s so with a few clicks an order was shipped to us and we were able to feel a bit of Chicago on our table. A slice of pizza paired with a tasty glass of wine or sangria is a little bit of Heaven on earth. There are various locations to visit in person and highly doubt you’ll be disappointed. Their sauce is what has me hooked!!
As I am writing this blog post, I am watching the snow falling this morning. There is probably already two inches of snow covering the ground. Just last week, it was 60 degrees so I took the opportunity to go for a walk with a friend which felt so good to just soak up some vitamin D and laugh together. I cleaned off my porch to start adding spring decor as well. I noticed the tulips and daffodils are already coming up. So spring is in the air and winter is just dragging her feet leaving.
Speaking of my porch, I found this cement bird for my front porch steps at Target for only $20. The spring arrivals at Target are just adorable this year. I had been looking at some plant stands last year for my porch as well and they had a bundle pack I purchased. I plan to park them on either side of my front door. I can't wait to plant spring flowers in my urn planter too. I had removed a tree I had placed in there during winter so right now it just looks sad and empty. I stumbled upon the urn at Lowes last fall and grabbed my hubby to tag along to carry it for me. He is such a good sport but slightly cringes because he never knows with me just how heavy something might be. I plan to go back this spring and see what inventory they have. Lowes is such a great place for reasonable flowers and planters. I love to use a local nursery but for a pinch or late hours box stores come in clutch.
March is right around the corner so stay tuned. I plan to talk about my closet cleanout, share some bargain finds, new hair products, and its my birthday month. Until then...
XOXO,
Bethany
I just love that bird! I can’t wait to see what you find next month!
