Good Morning, Friends…
As I am writing this post, a strong thunderstorm just recently blew through the Midwest region and snow flurries greeted us this morning, but the sun is peeking her way through the clouds. The end of February and the beginning of March has been quite delightful. I have opened my windows on several occasions already and the flowers have started blooming. Even Neil has enjoyed many bottles out on the back patio. I swear the feeling of spring is so good for the soul! The sunshine, flowers blooming, and a spring warm breeze blowing across your face is a gift from God! The 20th will be here soon and we can officially say spring has sprung.
My front porch has had its spring overhaul. Walmart came in clutch with this awesome basket and I had saved the flowers in storage for a couple years. At one time, I used the flowers inside to decorate but I just couldn’t find a place that was the spot until I put them on the porch and knew they had found their home. The flowers were too good of quality not to keep. I try not to save to many things but once in a while you know if you save it long enough it will have a beautiful purpose once again. Just a friendly reminder, don’t become a hoarder in the process… A couple springs ago, this tall, waist high rabbit was at T.J.Maxx for an awesome inexpensive price and without delay this rabbit went into my cart and onto my porch every spring season since. Sometimes, I have to admit I let him hang out until maybe, just maybe, mid-summer. Please... omit the concrete which needs its spring power washing.
When it comes to your closet, how often do you sort, reorganize or donate your clothes? If you haven’t yet this year, roll up your sleeves and you’ll thank me later. Every season, I go thoroughly through my closet, bedroom dresser drawers, and shoes. I truly enjoy the process and the feeling of accomplishment. In our home, we found the one thing to be lacking is sufficient closet space. So, to not feel overwhelmed I tend to only try to keep clothing I really like or actually wear. I tend to traditionally sort by hanging my clothing in categories such as comfy, average causal, and dressing up/going out. Whether the shirt is short or long sleeve, I’ll place them within the same respective category by hanging all the same style yet still together. This method has afforded me time while getting ready in the mornings. I have always considered the idea of having outfits paired up in the closet by the week as I have been told by using this method you are more prone to wearing all your clothes. If you are struggling with what to wear nor have the time to plan out a whole outfit, try one of these methods or find that style of organization that works for you.
For refilling my closet, this season has been quite the challenge for me which is a unique feeling. I have found my go to stores really are not becoming my one stop shop anymore. I have found my taste has changed as I am looking for those high-quality materials and more of a classic style. I have never been a trendy girl and usually when I decide to try something current its already out by the time I am coming in. And, at this point in life, I am ok with that and my style as long as I have some of those classic pieces in my closet stealing hanger space. Prior to pregnancy, I ordered several boxes from Stitch Fix and have enjoyed the surprise of what might come in the box. This month, I have ordered two boxes so far from Wantable which is another clothing company. I have received some very modern, reasonable, and trendy articles. Last, but not least, I have found myself walking back into Goodwill, again. I tend to go in spirts where I’ll thrift more and I was honestly looking for some of those solid quality brands without paying the full price. I have found practically brand-new clothing from brands such as Chico’s, Talbots, L.L. Bean, Eddie Bauer, etc… You really just have to have an open mind and check even those off the beaten path shops because you never know what treasure you might land.
After pregnancy and while I am on my breastfeeding journey, my hair has changed so much and I feel like my hair is becoming so much more tangled despite every attempt. I knew I needed to look into some products and I didn’t want to spend a crazy amount of money. I love my hair, but that’s not somewhere I put my money. I stumbled upon this hair product for blondes as pictured below and absolutely love the product. After stepping out of the shower, I lightly towel dry my hair, apply a few sprits and then I can slide a comb right through and my hair is left feeling lightweight and smelling so good. Secondly, Kristin Ess has a leave-in conditioner to apply after showering as well. I walked into Ulta asking for suggestions and this bottle was highly recommended at a great price point. I have to say if I was to compare, I love the smell of the Blondes, but honestly, they seemed equal to me in usage and results.
My birthday rolled around this month and I felt well loved by my hubby, son, and family! This was the first year I have worked on my birthday in several years, but we picked random days of the week to celebrate and it was so special. This season of our life we are just navigating in a new way and it feels right. Neil turned 6 months on the 18th and is weighing in at 14lbs 13ozs. I am enjoying watching him grow and learn so much but it’s a tad bittersweet for this momma's heart! He has learned to make so many different sounds from cooing, to babbling, and lately squealing and/or shrieking. He brightens our days so much and couldn’t imagine being anything but his momma!! On the 28th, Neil will be having his 6th month professional photo session.
In April, I’ll be excited to share a few pro camera shots, first Easter with Neil, and house projects. Until then…
XOXO,
Bethany
